In days to come, there will be banks of
monitors mounted onto the side of the buildings in Leicester Square. And
I think that it will look a little bit like this. Get ready - the millennium
is nearly here, and the slow decay of modern references is upon us. Remember
in 1984, when George Orwell had to admit that his book "1984" had gone
badly wrong? Well, there's going to be plenty of that over the next few
years, I can tell you. Some people are going to wish that they'd adopted
Barry Norman's more dynamic "Film 'xx" format, where xx is the actual
year. Barry - you were wise before your time. Or during it. Whatever.
In 2001, a 30 foot tall Joey Deacon, armoured with precious gems, will roam amongst us, protected by an army of rabid vermin. And I shall most certainly get mine, James Herbert style. |
